Defective Medical Device - IVC Lawyer
Table of Contents
An Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) is a small filtering device that is placed within the IVC, which is a large vein in the abdomen that returns blood from the lower half of the body to the heart. It is possible for blood clots to occasionally travel to the lungs where they may cause a pulmonary embolism or blockage.
It is claimed that IVC filters help reduce the risk of pulmonary embolism by catching large clots and preventing them from reaching the heart and lungs.
IVC filters are usually placed with minimally invasive procedures using a catheter ( a long, thin, hollow plastic tube). Patients are positioned on their back and given sedation. The catheter is inserted in the leg or other area of the body and used to place the IVC filter in position. The procedure usually takes less than an hour.
Risks and complications:
Unfortunately, it has been alleged that many IVC filters are defective and dangerous. Many patients claim that:
- The IVC filters can migrate (move) to areas where they should not be which can cause damage to other organs and tissue
- The IVC filters can break apart causing injury to heart, lungs or other tissue
- The filter can perforate (puncture) the inferior vena cava which puts you at serious risk of having a number of adverse events
- It may be extremely risky or impossible to remove the filter
Your time to file a claim may be limited. We recommend that you contact a lawyer immediately regarding your potential IVC filter claim.

I met Dan when I was in therapy and he came and right away it felt like a family member visiting you, a connection, like a brother. He’s been on both sides of the fence. He’s represented the hospitals and the doctors, and then he jumped over to the other side. It is a fantastic group, it was like Bell Belichick leading the team. They changed my life and still check on me. I recommend FHV to anybody and they thank me.
I met Dan about a year ago. He never made me feel that it was about the money. When he spoke with me he was asking how Bill (my brother) was and if he was doing better. He made me feel like family and always asked if I was alright. That means a lot. Everyday is something new and I challenge for my brother. I would recommend [FHV] to everybody because I really believe that they’re helping from their hearts… from a really good place.
For anyone to represent anyone for 5 years and take the time to do it, not once just “get it out of the way” and “get it done with”. It was about what was best for Hunter and our family. It was about the case and the people.
