On July 20, 2018 Bayer, the maker of Essure, announced that it would discontinue soled of its Essure Birth control implant by the end of the year. Essure was a permanent birth control device that was introduced into the market the United States in 2002. It is comprised of a small metal coil that is placed into the fallopian tubes. The product’s manufacturers have consistently claimed that the device was a safe and effective form of birth control. Unfortunately, we believe that not to be true.
